Staraya Derevnya - "Forgot What Was Important" LP

Regular price $21.00

(Ramble Records)

Australian import, limited edition black vinyl.

Compilation of material from 2010 - 2020 from international kraut-folk collective Staraya Derevnya. 'I forgot what was important' is a fantastic primer for the avant-garde collective whose theatrical and visual live performance are as important as their recordings. This one visits krautrock, post-punk, freak folk and art rock.

Lyrics are based on the poems by Arthur Molev and Avenir Snyatkov.

Music of the international kraut-folk collective Staraya Derevnya resists any direct comparison. Rob Hayler (Radio Free Midwich) described their live performance as “psychedelic and truly dream-like in a way that so little art described as ‘surreal’ gets anywhere near … a glove-like fit for the hypnagogic experience of losing yourself”.

They play an array of home-made instruments and sing in imaginary tongues, accompanied by primal live artwork. “The listener is taken on a journey that's perhaps best described as one third aural Alice Through the Looking Glass, one third experimental psych jamboree and one third impossible to describe." (Mark Whitby, Dandelion Radio).

Forgot what was Important is Staraya Derevnya's first release on Ramble Records and is a compilation of various released material.
